I don't think I can be convinced that there has ever been a 5 year old boy who loved a dog as much as Caleb loves Indie. EVERY morning when Caleb wakes up he finds her and they lay together for at least 5 minutes. The other kids love her but Indie is Calebs "gurl"
I'm not sure how Norah ended up in this outfit but we all just thought she was the most precious teacher ever
We were supposed to have a blizzard, the schools closed before a snowflake had even fallen because it was going to be so bad… and we got maybe 2 inches :) We soaked it up though, any day with no school is a good day
Savvy and Cohen were able to play on the same basketball team and it was so fun. Michael helped coach and the Mcdaniels and Kensley were on the team so it was a party for all the practices and games. Savvy said she will definitely play next year, Cohen said he is still on the fence. They both did great and I loved cheering them on!
Savvy has been talking about baptism for over a year now. She is so amazing and my heart literally feels too big for my chest when I start to think of her. Michael and I have spent hours upon hours talking to her and answering her questions… because when sister doesn't understand, she isn't going to stop until she gets an answer. Sometimes when I'm talking to her I forget that she's only 9 because her little brain can go to such mature places and question things that we as humans will never understand. This fall she came to me and said that she knew she wanted to get baptized but was scared. She was scared of getting in front of everyone …. and we talked and talked and talked ;) I told her that when we know God is wanting us to do something but we are scared, that is the times when he shows up BIG. And that is faith, doing something because He has asked us even when we are terrified. She was such an encouragement to me during all of this and the love that was flowing this day was insane. She invited our family, friends even her teacher from last year. We had over 40 people there supporting and cheering her on, it was amazing and my eyes are tearing up remembering it. From Little rock to Nashville they came to see her.
Everyone came over to our house afterwards for Taco Soup (per her request). I'm forever grateful that she's mine and I pray that she always knows her worth and her love for Christ grows more than I can ever imagine.
Michael and I celebrated our 13th anniversary and had a wonderful night out with sushi and stayed the night in a hotel here in town. It was wonderful and very relaxing but got bummed out when his work called and said he was getting called into flood fight. He had to leave the next morning and was gone for 11 days. The kids and I stayed with mom and ma for several days and watched movies and ate… and watched movies and ate…. it was wonderful
Savvy has to be the best big sister in the world, she has more patience and love for Norah than should be humanly possible… its the best
Princess Norah… I used to put necklaces on my head ALL the time growing up and pretend I was a princess from some exotic land. Apparently I passed down this trait
We got some sparklers for New Years Eve and almost made it to midnight
Us older girls had some champagne and Savvy had water:) She felt so fancy
They both fell asleep on the rug like this :)
Then Norah woke up like this… I don't know who took this picture but it cracks me up… My face, I'm counting to 10… then I pray… then I'm convincing myself that its not ok to drink champagne at noon :)
This whole situation tickles me and makes me so proud. My momma heart can hardly take it when the kids work together and encourage each other… even when it's just trying to climb a tree :) They reversed the roles next and Caleb was able to make it up on the tree
Christmas was so warm this year, the kids were in shorts and skirts :) We spent Christmas eve with Michaels parents then went to our candle light service at church. When we got home we sprinkled reindeer food in the yard and then got everyone nestled in bed :)
Uncle Blake and Aunt Elizabeth came in town and somewhat surprised the kids (I think Cohen knew they were coming)
We went to moms on Saturday and spent the day in Arkansas. This pie still amazes me, mom pulled a martha stewart on this one
On Sunday we had a shower for the newly weds! Our family who wasn't able to make it to the wedding came to celebrate them
Mom took us to the Polar Express and of course it was amazing. It was just like the movie, the conductor punched the kids initial into the golden ticket, hot chocolate and santa. I totally cried when we pulled up to the North Pole and santa was out there waving. The kids loved it and danced most of the ride, magic was in Mississippi that night
One morning I was happily (speeding) down the road and got pulled over and ended up having one of the craziest moments of my life. Long story short instead of a ticket they gave me bags full of toys for the kids!! It was so humbling and exciting and emotional… again just crazy
I think Cohen was able to keep them seated for 3 books this night
Savvy was a reindeer in her school's Christmas program. She was so adorable and had her dance moves down :)
